Swimming
A Wet Weekend
A walking weekend became a lazy swimming time.
Much warmer than the rain!
1) “Testing The Water”. 1992
While relaxing in the jacuzzi I watched people in the pool.
2) “Splash In!”. 1992
Children were leaping about.
Sailing to Sicily
After sailing from Sardinia, we anchored at dawn off Selinunte, an isolated headland in the NW of Sicily.
There was a ruined temple. We rowed over to explore later in the day.
1) “Sunbathing Off Sicily”. 1990
The water was warm and quite shallow, and held the light.
The crew relaxed!
2) “Sun Washing”. 1991
Relaxing and washing in the sea, hair washing,
boat scrubbing, back washing.
3) “Watching Posiedon Off Selinunte, Sicily”. 1990
As we swam in the warm shallow water, we discovered that one of the crew could send himself deeper sitting, with hand propelling movements! We called him “Poseidon, God of the Sea”
Swimming School
While sailing across the Bay of Biscay, we were accompanied
by a school of dolphins for a while.
I wanted to join in!
1) “Stern Lesson”. 1994
The fishing boat’s skipper is instructing
swimmers, (wearing 1950s bathing hats.)
They must avoid the propellers and rudder.
2) “Who’s After Who?” 1994
Mutiny! The Dolphin Swimmers want to stay in the water.
The skipper tries to catch one.
or will the swimmer pull him in too?
3) “Around The Bows”. 1994
Everything is inside out.
The boat has become an aquarium, (with goldfish bowl portholes).
The crew dangles a bracelet to tempt the swimmers on board.
