The Backs
The part of the river behind the University Colleges
is called “the Backs” with punting for sight-seeing and picnics.

This part of the River is for rowing, with all the College boat houses.

It was about to be replaced. With rowing machines upstairs,
the whole building shook! The boats were kept on racks below.

to teach rowing to “Mature Women” 2 of us took the challenge!
Here on a “learner” boat (with a tiny keel!) I am nearly upset by
the pigeons under Victoria Avenue Bridge defending their territory.

up “the Backs”, willow branches and all!

Down river on the Cam
